Oracle Announces End of Support for Java on Windows XP

From java.com:

“As of April 8, 2014 Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP and therefore it is no longer an officially supported platform. Users may still continue to use Java 7 updates on Windows XP at their own risk, but support will only be provided against Microsoft Windows releases Windows Vista or later.”

What does this mean for me if I’m still using Windows XP?

If you are running Windows XP you are at risk of your computer being compromised.  Microsoft has stopped releasing security updates for Windows XP which puts Windows XP computers at an immediate risk.  Java has even broader security concerns, and without security updates to Java, Windows XP computers will be at an even greater risk.

What should I do if I’m still running Windows XP?

You should be looking to upgrade your computer to something newer sooner rather than later.
